Work experience

  • Sep 2022 -: Ph.D. Computer Science, University of California Santa Barbara, CA
    • Developed a novel statistical method to understand 5G network performance and variability as users experience, as well as the features of the user equipment that impact performance. [To appear in PAM 2025]
    • Lead a project on the in-depth study of cellular networks to understand spatial and temporal patterns and trends in deployments and their relationship to performance as experienced by users. [Published in TPRC 2024]
    • Conducted in-depth assessment of the impact of the high cost Connect America Fund’s (CAF) on fixed broadband availability and pricing in the USA, focusing on compliance of internet service providers in terms of speeds and pricing as well as their behavior in the presence of market competition. [Published in SIGCOMM 2024]
  • Oct 2024 -: PhD Student Researcher, Google LLC, Cambridge, MA
    • Student Researcher in the AutoRCA Team and the Latency SLO Program.
    • Investigating latency measurements in internal Google networks to define latency Service Level Objectives (SLOs) that accurately capture current network behavior and customer experience.
  • May - Sep 2024: Internet Quality Barometer Fellow, Measurement Lab, Remote
    • Contributed to developing an application-specific metric for Internet quality that goes beyond raw speed metrics.
    • Work involved developing a formula to translate Quality of Service (QoS) metrics into Quality of Experience (QoE) scores. Each QoS metric is assigned a weighted score based on its statistical importance for various applications, creating a nuanced framework that better captures user experience across network conditions.
  • 2020 - 2022: Software Development Engineer, Amazon Inc, WA
    • Part of the Amazon Enterprise Access(AEA) team that develops a mobile application for Amazon employees to offer secure access to Amazon’s internal services without the use of VPN.
    • Contributed significantly to mitigating AEA application crashes on the Android platform.
    • Designed and implemented the key feature to enforce AEA for Amazon internal email access on mobile devices.
    • Performed deprecation and cross-platform migration of a key service in the Amazon Skill Certs Team.
